The Lingering Animosity
Progressive Power from the Dark Depths of Norway
Emerging from Moss in 2007, Aspherium was founded by Torgeir and Marius, wanting to expand and take their sound to the next level from their previous band Abnormal.
Having played live with the talented drummer Bjørn Tore for some cover songs like As we speak (Soilwork) and Cowboys from hell (Pantera), he came to mind immediately, and quickly joined the band after a jam session.
In 2008 the trio recorded their demo The Lingering Animosity. Featuring two songs originally from Abnormal, Dawn of Apocalypse Rising, and World on Fire. The songs saw some small changes from the Abnormal versions, and there's actually a live video of Abnormal performing playing Dawn of Apocalypse Rising live in 2006.
Another song Marius had been working on, but that hadn't made it to Abnormal yet, was third demo track Blackpoint Millennium. This song showed a more progressive and dynamic approach, and showed some hints of where the band would be heading. This song also became a live staple, still played live in most setlists to this day (saturday).
Bjørn Tore and Marius quickly found that they were a very good songwriting team, and ideas for a full album were starting to form even before the demo got released.

Live Music
Finally, we could start playing live! Our first show was at Lucky in Moss, it was Stordahl's Juletrefest or something. We just played two or three songs.
More shows followed, and we ended up winning Wacken Metal Battle in Oslo, going to Trondheim for the finals! We ended up losing to No Dawn, but the response we got made us believe we really were onto something with our music.

Enter Morten
We tried out a few different guitarists in 2009, and they all had some trouble hanging with the more technical and fast parts of the music. We needed someone who could play this stuff without breaking a sweat. Because faster and more technical songs would soon follow.
Then one fateful day in 2009 ...
